Canfield Scientific acquires Visiomed

October 19, 2018 By Danielle Kirsh

CanfieldScientific-logoCanfield Scientific recently acquired Germany-based dermoscopy company Visiomed. The financial details of the deal were not disclosed.

“The addition of Visiomed’s best-in-class optical and digital dermatoscopes are a perfect extension to our imaging portfolio,” Doug Canfield, president of Canfield Scientific, said in a press release. “Furthermore, their commitment to excellence and organizational culture was a natural fit with our own.”

The management team from Visiomed will hold leadership positions within Canfield Scientific. Visiomed’s CEO will lead Canfield Scientific GmbH, which is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Canfield Scientific, Inc. The Canfield Scientific GmbH business unit will become a high magnification imaging research and development and customer support and logistics center for Canfield in Europe.

“Canfield Scientific and Visiomed’s collaborative synergy allows us to not only grow our product portfolio and research efforts, but also continue expansion of our European footprint,” said Peter Klar, Canfield Scientific GmbH’s chief scientific officer. “In this way, we can offer our customers a complete line of medical and aesthetic imaging solutions while still maintaining the highest level of quality that has always been synonymous with both companies.”

The new Canfield Scientific operation is located in Bielefeld, Germany.
