Gerresheimer AG will build a new plant in Skopje, North Macedonia that will initially produce medical plastic systems, with prefillable glass syringes lines coming in a later expansion phase.
Construction will start in the first half of 2019, the company said today. The plan is for construction to finish in the first half of 2020, with production starting during the second half of 2020.
Gerresheimer described the investment in the plant as a mid-double-digit million euro figure. The company expects to create up to 400 jobs in Skopje over the medium term.
This will be Gerresheimer’s first plant in southeastern Europe.
“The country offers good infrastructure, cost structures, trained personnel and excellent support from the authorities,” Gerresheimer CEO Dietmar Siemssen said of North Macedonia.
