Created by NEOFECT, NeoMano is a wearable, soft robotic hand that empowers people with hand paralysis to perform daily activities. The wearable fits over the thumb, index, and middle finger, while the other parts of the hand remain uncovered.
The NeoMano gives people with paralysis the ability to move their fingers to do simple activities such as drink a cup of water, brush their teeth, grab a utensil, and turn a doorknob. It does this by providing active grasp to maintain grip, followed by passive release.
Additionally, this device can be helpful for people with little to no strength in their hands, such as those suffering from arthritis, ALS, multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy, and more.
Other activities this helpful hand provides include:
- Grabbing a leash and going for a walk with their dog
- Opening the cap of a medicine bottle
- Holding a pen to sign a document
- Holding a razor to shave
- Using a hair brush
- Reading a book while flipping pages
- Holding a cellphone to make a call
