Medical Design & Outsourcing has launched an application process for our annual Medtech Big 100 ranking of the world’s largest medical device companies.
Each year, our team receives dozens of emails asking how to be included in our list, and this year, we’re opening the process up to anyone who thinks they’ve got what it takes to make the cut. Our annual publication provides a comprehensive overview of the world’s largest medtech manufacturers, based on a thorough review of legal financial filings and an extra check with the media relations teams at each company.
The overall ranking is based on annual revenue. We also consider (but don’t require) metrics such as R&D spending and employment for our definitive ranking of the most influential names in medtech.

Publicly traded and privately held companies are encouraged to apply, and their submissions require the disclosure of relevant financial details.
We value the data you send us as part of this project, so all correspondence will only be accessible to Medical Design & Outsourcing‘s editorial team for evaluation and consideration of inclusion in the Medtech Big 100.
The next edition of the Medtech Big 100 is scheduled for September, so the application deadline is June 30. To ensure accuracy and credibility, MDO encourages submissions from authoritative figures within the companies, such as CEOs, marketing directors, investor relations personnel or any other individuals who are best positioned to provide comprehensive insights into the company’s performance and financial standing.
Please contact MedtechBig100@wtwhmedia.com if you have any further questions about the application.
At the end of the application process, there is an additional, optional survey to fill out that asks about some of the company’s R&D practices, manufacturing trends and business directives. We are using this for aggregate data collection, meaning we won’t publish individual responses or attribute the responses to your company. For example, we might want to determine companies’ average number of manufacturing sites or top obstacles to growth for the industry, drawing on all survey respondents’ answers. However, our editorial team may want to follow up to some responses. Submit your name and email at the end if you are comfortable. It’s entirely optional to submit identifying information.
