The submission portal for the 7th MEDICA App Competition is now open online. Developers from around the world can submit their app creations until September 30, 2018. The portal is hosted by MEDICA, a medical trade fair, held annually in Düsseldorf, Germany.
The main focus is not solely on the app, but rather on a well-thought out overall solution for the day-to-day use of patients, physicians and clinics.
“A drone that delivers medical products and can be controlled via smart phone, for example, is a possible award-winning solution,” explained organizer Mark Wächter.
The competition is for applications for smart phones, smart watches, tablets or AR/VR glasses but fitness and wellness applications are excluded. Submitted applications should have a connection to professional medical technology – and start-ups that are still in an early stage are welcome to apply.
The submissions will be pre-selected by a MEDICA expert team and 10 developers will be chosen to participate at the live pitch during MEDICA 2018. The final judging will be at this live competition hosted in a session of the MEDICA Connected Healthcare Forum.
Each team has 3 minutes to pitch their app-based mobile medical solution, followed by 2 minutes of Q&A. This year’s first place winner will be receive Euro 2,000, the second place Euro 1,000 and third place Euro 500. In addition, partners and sponsors will donate numerous non-cash prizes, among them two tickets to the global technology event SXSW.
All App-based mobile medical solutions nominated for the live competition will be notified beginning of October 2018.
