Medical Design & Outsourcing’s March and May 2022 editions
Medical Design & Outsourcing and seven members of our team won more than a dozen American Society of Business Publication Editors (ASBPE) Awards of Excellence.
ASBPE Awards of Excellence, also called Azbee Awards, recognize the highest quality reporting, editing and design in business-to-business, trade, association and professional publications.
MDO won five national and nine regional Azbee Awards, including two national golds.
MDO’s national Azbee Awards
MDO‘s digital edition was a national finalist/honorable mention for overall excellence — the Azbee Awards’ highest level — in the category of digital magazine of the year.
Judges considered the March, May and July 2022 editions for this award. Award recipients include Executive Editor Chris Newmarker, Managing Editor Jim Hammerand, Senior Art Director Matthew Claney, Senior Editor Danielle Kirsh, Pharma Editor Brian Buntz, Associate Editor Sean Whooley and DeviceTalks Editorial Director Tom Salemi.
Our March 2022 cover story on Endiatx won national gold for best opening page/spread featuring photography and national silver for best company profile. Recipients of those awards included Hammerand, Claney, Newmarker and freelance photographer Hardy Wilson.
Buntz’s pharma coverage won national gold for best regular department in print for his reporting on Genoskin, potential applications of messenger RNA (mRNA) and the top-selling pharmaceuticals of 2021.
MDO also won a national bronze for publication design. Judges considered the March and May 2022 editions designed by Claney.
MDO’s regional Azbee Awards
Our Endiatx cover story won a regional gold award for best company profile, a regional gold award for best opening page/spread photo, and a regional silver award for feature article design.
Buntz’s pharma coverage won a regional gold award for best regular department in print for his previously mentioned reporting.
MDO also won a regional silver award for best publication design, with judges considering the same March and May 2022 editions that won national honors. And our annual Medtech Big 100 edition won a regional silver award for print special issue or supplement.
Kirsh won regional bronze awards in the category of enterprise news story for her reporting on FDA recalls and in the diversity, equity and inclusion category for her analysis of gender diversity in medtech.
