Diabetics now have the ability to view their glucose levels on their iOS or Android-operated smartphones.
Samsung has partnered with Medtronic to launch the new MiniMed Connect app. The app allows diabetics to share their glucose readings with family, caregivers, and medical providers at any time and also set up automated text alerts if glucose levels are too high or low.
According to Loop, the MiniMed Connect device sends the data from the insulin pump to a smartphone via Bluetooth technology. It is compatible with the MiniMed 530G system and the MiniMed Revel system.
Family members and loved ones can access information online from any tablet, computer, or smartphone. Caregivers can use the app to adjust treatment plans
The app allows users to graph their current glucose levels and compare it to high or low readings. It offers three-, six-, 12-, and 24-hour views. It can also read the patient’s active insulin level.
The system will alert the user when its pump and uploader batteries are low and can also provide alerts about system connectivity.
