Owens & Minor (Mechanicsville, Va.) has signed a five-year medical and surgical supply distribution agreement with Scripps Health. The financial details of the deal were not disclosed.
Scripps Health is a California-based healthcare system that treats more than 750,000 patients annually. Under the agreement, Owens & Minor will serve Scripps Health’s five acute-care hospital campuses and the non-acute care, outpatient centers and clinics in Southern California.
“Scripps is intensely focused on providing the highest standards of excellence and care for our patients,” Cecile Hozouri, associate VP of supply chain management for Scripps Health, said in a press release. “We sought a strategic supply chain partner who will enable us to achieve real and lasting improvement in delivering products to the point of care. We know that every element of what we do is critical to supporting our mission of excellence in patient care.”
Scripps Health was in search of a long-term supply chain partner that could provide low unit of measure supply distribution while meeting more complex services as needed for clinical and non-clinical areas.
“Owens & Minor earned this agreement because we will help Scripps advance their supply chain capabilities through their system,” Jeff Hastings, senior VP of distribution solutions at Owens & Minor, said. “Our vision and strategy are closely aligned with Scripps, as we are committed to supporting our provider customers as they deliver exceptional patient care.”
Owens & Minor will begin distribution in March.
