“Delays in manufacturing were creating issues for us in terms of meeting customer demand in a timely fashion,” Geri Trautman, product development manager at Qosina, said in a March 4 news release.
“So, after we started working on our own tooling and molding source, Evonik pointed us toward their Cryolite G-20 Hiflo, a material that is easy to process and saves us considerable production costs over the long-run” Trautman said.
Cryolite G-20 Hiflo is a BPA-free, impact-modified copolymer. Evonik describes it as ideal for the injection molding and extrusion of medical devices, with excellent processability and flow characteristics paramount for extremely thin-walled applications and complex multi-cavity molds. It’s also possible to bond Cryolite to PVC tubing, and it can withstand sterilization by EtO gas and gamma irradiation.
