Nation’s Largest Integrated Healthcare System to Streamline Care Delivery with Secure, On-Demand Access to Diagnostic Images
Agilex, a leading provider of mission and technology solutions to the federal government, announced today that it was awarded a competitive contract by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to develop and implement VA’s enterprise Web and Mobile Application Image Viewing Solution. Agilex will build upon Calgary Scientific’s ResolutionMD enterprise image-viewer to provide VA clinicians nationally with secure, on-demand access to radiological images across a variety of mobile and desktop devices. The solution will help VA improve care by accelerating and improving diagnosis and treatment, strengthening collaboration, and expanding telehealth options.
“VA is a leader in the use of mHealth technologies to connect patients and healthcare services anywhere, changing the traditional facility-based healthcare model,” said Dr. Wyatt Smith, Vice President, Agilex. “By applying this same model for clinicians, diagnostic images will become more readily accessible, improving clinician efficiency and care quality.”
The Image Viewing Solution will allow VA to overcome the cost and constraints of traditional Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS), making advanced visualization and workflow tools more widely available via mobile phones, tablets and desktops. Enhanced accessibility for medical imagery will expand diagnostic capabilities, provide clinicians and patients with a better understanding of treatment options, and improve healthcare portability.
ResolutionMD enables direct integration with VA’s VistA clinical systems and the VA Mobile Framework (VAMF). The solution is FDA cleared for diagnosis (510k Class II), CFDA registered, Health Canada licensed and CE marked for a range of web and mobile devices, including iOS and Android. Thousands of healthcare enterprises globally have adopted ResolutionMD, which integrates seamlessly with many of the industry leading PACS, electronic medical record (EMR) and vendor neutral archives (VNA) systems. The solution is also designed to comply with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and stringent VA security requirements to fully protect and safeguard Personally Identifiable Information (PII) and Protected Health Information (PHI).
“The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs has defined many of the best practices for the use of technology to improve the delivery of quality care,” said Pierre Lemire, President and CTO at Calgary Scientific Inc. “Their adoption of ResolutionMD will allow clinicians to collaborate more effectively with the assurance of using diagnostically-accredited technology throughout the diagnosis and treatment process and leverage mobility to work with other providers and patients, providing better care from anywhere. We are extremely proud to support one of the world’s largest and most advanced healthcare delivery networks with this critical initiative.”
Agilex has been named one of the nation’s one hundred largest health IT solution providers by Healthcare Informatics. The company is also a recognized leader in enterprise mobility solutions for the federal government, helping over half of the civilian workforce go mobile. Agilex has worked with VA on a number of its award-winning mHealth programs, including its Clinic-in-Hand (CIH), Mobile Blue Button (MBB), and Patient Scheduling initiatives.
