A mind-controlled device on paralyzed hands can help stroke patients open and close their hands again.
The Neurolutions-developed Ipsihand has a built-in brain-computer interface that helps patients train uninjured parts of the brain to replace functions of the injured parts of the brain.
Ipsihand uses an electrode-filled cap to detect brain signals. The signals get sent to a computer that amplifies the signals, and a moveable brace on the hand detects the intended movement and opens or closes the paralyzed hand.
