BETHESDA, Md., Feb. 24, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — BrainScope Company,
Inc. today announced that Peter JD Andrews M.D., MB.Ch.B., FRCA has
joined its Medical Advisory Board. He holds the distinguished
title of Professor of Anaesthetics & Critical Care at the
University of Edinburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom. This
appointment coincides with BrainScope’s recent announcement that it
is entering the U.K. market with its “B-Ahead U.K. Trial”, a
multi-center, observational clinical study utilizing its technology
in development to aid in the assessment of traumatic brain injury
(TBI) and its milder forms (commonly referred to as “concussion”)
in emergency departments in the U.K.

In addition to his professorship at the University of Edinburgh,
Professor Andrews is currently Consultant in Anaesthesia and
Intensive Care at Western General Hospital in Edinburgh, Scotland.
He is a member of the European Society of Intensive Care
Medicine, and previously elected section Chairman of Neurological
Intensive Care on two occasions and a member of the Medical
Research Council (UK) College of Experts. He is currently
involved in several research grants, including the
Eurotherm3235Trial, an international, multi-center, randomized
controlled trial that examines the effects of hypothermia as a
treatment for severe traumatic brain injury, where he serves as
chief investigator. Professor Andrews is editor in chief for
The Open Critical Care Medicine Journal and has been
associate editor
