Harding Energy says think custom when standard battery packs won’t do

April 28, 2016 By Paul Dvorak

Design requirements, such as packaging, occasionally require unusual battery arrangements such as these.

Design requirements, such as packaging, occasionally call for unusual battery arrangements such as these.

Battery experts at Harding Energy work with clients to incorporate all power requirements of a design. With over 28 years of working with batteries, company experts know the right questions to ask at the beginning of a design cycle to ensure the end product functions properly. Being a cell manufacturer, Harding understands:

  • Battery chemistries
  • Functions
  • Limitations
  • Environmental impacts
  • Matching the proper cell to the overall battery design, and
  • Testing the medical device prior to designing a final package

All these factors must be considered when designing a battery pack. And there’s more. Designers must also weigh a configuration, protective devices, communications for smart charging, battery-monitor technologies, connectors, labeling, market specifics, and agency approvals.

Harding’s mechanical team designs battery enclosures of all types that enhance a medical product’s functional design while assuring that the battery passes other requirements, such as drop tests and environmental testing, to certify the battery pack for shipment anywhere in the world.

In addition to an ideal custom battery pack, the company can manage the certification and agency approvals for the battery. This is important because markets are changing fast. A rising demand for portable energy makes the materials and technologies for battery pack assembly more advanced and refined.

Harding takes the role of design partner, helping clients make the product more efficient to produce, more effective to operate, with longer lasting portable power. The extra care taken in the manufacturing of the battery pack produces a reliable, quality pack that will function as needed.
