community, announced today that it has signed an agreement to
provide diagnostic imaging services for the Heart
Institute of the Caribbean (HIC) in Kingston, Mandeville
and Ocho Rios in Jamaica.
HIC is now sending nuclear and other exams to the TeleRad
subsidiary of New Mexico Software. Despite the high prevalence of
cardiovascular diseases in Jamaica, there was previously no
identifiable center of excellence in this region for cardiovascular
care. HIC has filled the gap, bringing affordable, high quality
healthcare to the local environment.
The agreement between New Mexico Software and HIC represents an
innovative use of medical Internet technology to bridge the human
resource gap and enhance the provision of high quality medical care
in an underserved region.
