“The money assists us with a very specific project,” Albrecht Matthaei, managing director of the foundation, said in a press release. “It helps to support our research activities to fight against pediatric brain tumors.”
Money from the donation was raised through in-house auctions at Raumedic. The company is currently upgrading its offices and auctioned off a number of its furnishings among its employees.
“We have been in contact with Care-for-Rare for quite a while and clearly stand behind the foundation’s mission to develop therapies for the treatment of rare diseases in children. So, it was obvious to donate the sum collected to this institution,” Thomas Ruhland, who is responsible for external networking at Raumedic, said.
The Care-for-Rare Foundation was founded in 2009 by professors Christoph Klein and Andreas Staudacher in Germany. The foundation researches different treatment options for rare diseases in children. Diagnostic and therapeutic options for rare diseases for children are minimal.
