TT collaboration speeds Elekta to radiotherapy patient care breakthroughs

August 29, 2016 By Abigail Esposito

TT Electronics

TT Electronics developed a complete suite of test solutions for the complex PCBAs used by Agility product. The lightening pace of Agility relied on technology twice as complex as its predecessor.

Human-care company Elekta needed to test their latest technological innovation in high resolution beam shaping. The world’s fastest multi-leaf collimator (MLC) had already been developed, successfully defeating many challenges engineers had otherwise believed insurmountable along the way.

But, re-defining benchmarks of patient care in radiotherapy doesn’t necessarily guarantee success. The next challenge was a rigorous testing phase to bring the Agility MLC to market as quickly as possible.
And that’s where TT Electronics came in.

TT Electronics’ brief was simple: To test Elekta’s sector-defining new multi-leaf collimator as efficiently and promptly as possible. As a EMS provider with world-class test development capabilities, TT would prove to be the ideal partner.

TT Electronics developed a complete suite of test solutions for the complex PCBAs used by Agility product. The lightening pace of Agility relied on technology twice as complex as its predecessor. Only a close collaborative working relationship between both company’s engineering and test development teams would deliver the desired results.

Working alongside Elekta, TT Electronics analyzed the test requirements and specifications, offering solutions and modifications throughout the entire development stage. This unique combination of test development expertise and proactive partnership meant that the test phase was completed ahead of schedule.

Elekta’s new beam-shaping radiotherapy solution is already installed in several hospitals worldwide, dramatically reducing treatment times and pioneering new leaf technology which reduces the non-therapeutic dose to the patient.

By providing the engineering competency and dedication required to aid in the development of an innovative and highly reliable clinical solution for radiation therapy, TT Electronics’ efforts align with Elekta’s commitments to address the needs of healthcare systems and patients.

As this partnership grows, TT Electronics continues to provide Elekta a wide range of electronics manufacturing services. From simple and highly complex PCBAs, cables and harnesses, to high level integrations, TT strives to provide early supplier involvement design support, value engineering and ultimately cost reduction.
