2017 ESP Award Winner: Allen Medical Allen Advance Table L2P

December 13, 2017 By Daniel Seeger

In the November/December 2017 issue of Surgical Products, the winners of this year’s Excellence In Surgical Products (ESP) Awards are revealed.

Day by day, we’ll also share the results here, including some additional details about the honored products.

Category: TABLES & POSITIONING

Winner: ALLEN MEDICAL ALLEN ADVANCE TABLE L2P

The Advance Table L2P Platform (lateral to prone platform) is a new lateral surgical positioning system that works with the Allen Advance Table and provides up to 32 degrees of lateral flex. The accessories in this system also allow the patient to be easily, safely and quickly rotated directly from the lateral position onto prone supports via the manual rotation capabilities of the Allen Advance Table. The L2P Platform reduces the number of staff members required to re-position the patient into the prone position once the lateral procedure has been completed. It eliminates the need to transfer the patient from one table to another table and then back again.

To learn more, Surgical Products reached out to Allen Medical.

What sets this product apart from others available in the industry?

The innovative, one-of-a-kind L2P Platform offers a safe, fast, and efficient method of repositioning the patient when the lateral procedure is completed and posterior access is required to implant the screws/rods. It eliminates the need to transfer the patient from one table to another table and then back again, reducing the number of staff members needed for patient positioning, thus saving time and resources.

How does this product benefit the surgical team and aid in better outcomes?

The L2P Platform is a cost-effective solution that saves valuable OR time, requires fewer staff members, eliminates the need to lift or “log roll” the patient from one table to another, and provides a well-controlled technique for repositioning the patient 90 degrees, from the lateral to the prone position. The L2P Platform also gives the surgeon greater access to the surgical site and helps to open up the disc space by providing up to 32 degrees of flexion, which is particularly helpful at the L5-S1 levels and also around the iliac crest.
