Winner: Encompass Thermoflect Automated Patient Warming Caps

The completely automated design is manufactured in McAllen, Texas, using state-of the-art equipment and U.S. labor.

What sets this product apart from others available in the industry?

Thermoflect Heat Reflective Technology Automated Patient Warming Caps new design features a sonic welded crescent shape and blue comfort band that are exclusive to the Thermoflect Heat Reflective Technology product line.

How does this product benefit the surgical team and aid in better outcomes?

Thermoflect Heat Reflective Technology Automated Patient Warming Caps crescent shape provides allows the cap to be positioned horizontally (right to left) to cover the ears or vertically (front to back) to accommodate long/thick hair to maximize head coverage. The blue comfort band on the edge creates a secure fit with a soft touch for sensitive skin.

Runner-Up: Calzuro Shoes

Product description and innovation synopsis:

The Italian-made Calzuro shoes are ergonomically designed with surgeons in mind. Surgical staff benefits from wearing Calzuro because of the 1.5 inch heel to reduce fatigue from standing, slip resistant soles, and antistatic composition. There are two accessories for Calzuro: Comfort Insoles (washable or can be sterilized) and Heel Straps to add a secure back. Calzuro is still made in Italy today, and sold throughout the world.

What sets this product apart from others available in the industry?

With the rise of concern for hospital floors spreading infection, Calzuro can be sterilized in the autoclave, machine washed, or bleached to prevent contamination. Our mission is to reach medical professionals throughout the U.S. to introduce the importance of decontamination of personal footwear in the healthcare setting. Scrubs and uniforms are cleaned daily, but often times footwear is forgotten, even though it plays a role in infection prevention.

How does this product benefit the surgical team and aid in better outcomes?

Calzuro shoes are beneficial to any surgical team because they provide healthy comfort and the ability to be cleaned in between surgeries or shifts lowering the risk of spreading contamination. For surgical facilities ordering in groups, special pricing is available.
