As the Ebola situation continues to evolve in North America, the Practicing Perfection Institute, Inc. (PPI) and the international not-for-profit Human Performance Association, Inc. (HPA) have combined forces to offer proactive solutions for the prevention of infection and contamination to medical professionals and to the general public.
“I must confess,” offered Tim Autrey, Founder/CEO of PPI and Executive Director of the HPA, “I had not put ‘human error’ together with Ebola in the United States until I read the article by Steven Novella, ‘Ebola and Human Error.’ Once I did so, I knew we had to do whatever we could to minimize the potential for human error in this situation (and do so immediately).”
The Team members at both the Practicing Perfection Institute and the Human Performance Association rallied to the cause, offering free-of-charge proactive solutions. These solutions (and how to access them) are detailed in a short video, “Ebola and Human Error.”
“PPI is offering a Medical Error Elimination Tools™ handbook free of charge to any medical professional who requests one,” offered Autrey. “These handbooks contain a simple set of behavioral tools, which if used uncompromisingly, virtually eliminate the potential for mistakes. Even within the incredibly dynamic, complex and high stress hospital environment, these simple tools (when used) greatly reduce the potential for the types of errors that lead to infections and contamination.” Medical professionals can request their personal copies at the PPI website.
The Human Performance Association is offering a free download entitled, “7 Simple Steps for helping to protect you and people you care about.” “We wanted to provide simple guidance,” offered Ritu Budakoti, Managing Director of the HPA, “simple steps that anyone can take to help protect themselves from becoming infected. We made the guidance specific for Ebola; however, the same guidance will help protect against any ‘bug’ that might be going around.” Access for free downloadable copies can be found at the HPA website.
PPI and HPA are encouraging everyone to not only take personal advantage of these offers, but to do everything they can to help spread the word. As indicated in the video, use of social networks to share the availability of these proactive tools can initiate a viral mechanism to help fight a deadly virus.
