Ethicon has announced FDA 510(k) clearance for their Enseal X1 Large Jaw Tissue Sealer. Suggested for open procedures such as colectomies and hysterectomies, Ethicon says the device is “designed to provide secure vessel sealing and precise heat management in one device with the comfort and ergonomics demanded by advanced bipolar surgeons in today’s marketplace.”
The X1 is being billed as the inaugural offering in the next generation of Enseal devices, which currently includes the G2 line: the Enseal G2 Articulating Tissue Sealers, the Enseal Curved and Straight Tissue Sealers, and the Enseal G2 Super Jaw Tissue Sealer.
In an accompanying press release, Ethicon’s vice president of Energy Global Strategic Marketing, Grace Chung, celebrates the Enseal X1 as part of the company’s larger vision for serving patients and physicians.
“Ethicon remains committed to addressing the critical needs of patients, ensuring they have access to the most effective treatment through continued innovation and product enhancement,” says Chung. “By providing access to leading-edge technology in advanced bipolar energy, we are giving hospitals the ability to work with a single advanced energy provider and surgeons increased choice and the flexibility to meet a diverse set of clinical needs for their patients and procedures.”
