In the hospital, doctors can take images and measurements using bulky machines and get a real-time measurement for the time that they’re at the hospital. But if someone regularly has an irregular heartbeat, for example, it is beneficial to get data for that outside of a healthcare setting.In the future, patients wearing medical-grade wearables will be able to regularly transmit readings about medical conditions to their physicians, who could use algorithms to give a patient a proper diagnosis or treatment upon their next doctor’s visit, according to Combs.
