This spinoff of Carnegie Mellon University and the University of Pittsburgh won for the exGraft, a novel expandable cardiovascular conduit that uses a minimally-invasive balloon catheter to allow for pediatric growth to reduce surgeries.
The company fused the performance of ePTFE with the addition of a novel radiopaque design to create the synthetic vascular graft designed to enhance visualization during surgery and follow-up. The exGraft holds the CE-mark and the company has applied for 510(k) clearance from the FDA.In January, PECAlabs won a Boston Children’s/Boston Pediatric Device Challenge award for exGraft.
