Contract manufacturer Eastek International (Lake Zurich, Ill.) announced that it will open a new factory in Fresnillo, Zacatecas, Mexico.
Eastek, which also has facilities in the U.S., China and Malaysia, partnered with Entrada Group to establish the new facility at Entrada’s manufacturing campus in central Mexico. The new facility is the second location for Eastek in the past 12 months, following the opening of electronic assembly operations located near Penang, Malaysia.
Eastek Mexico will initially offer printed circuit board assembly and turnkey assembly solutions. The new plant will be fully operational by June 2021 with some existing customer programs, but the company said it in a news release that it will focus on new business opportunities in medical, industrial, transportation and consumer products. Eastek is seeking ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 certifications by mid-year, and FDA and TS 16949 certifications by the end of 2021.
