Nitinol supplier Lighteum Medical has hired Gaurav Agarwal as CEO effective Aug. 31, 2026.

“Gaurav is an accomplished medtech leader and proven growth-oriented operator with a track record of building high-performing organizations and driving results,” Lighteum Medical Chair Greg Lucier said in a statement shared with Medical Design & Outsourcing ahead of the announcement. “Throughout his career, he has demonstrated an ability to set a focused strategy and translate it into disciplined execution and sustained performance.”

Lighteum Medical, a medical device contract manufacturing and development organization owned by private equity firm Montagu, said Agarwal has a track record of “enterprise transformation, value-creation planning, strategic M&A, carve-outs and integrations, commercial acceleration, and successful exits” and has been involved in M&A deals worth more than $15 billion and more than $11 billion in private equity dispositions.

Former Lighteum Medical CEO Don Freeman is now an advisor to the company’s board.

Lighteum Medical develops and manufactures miniature components for minimally invasive medical devices used in high-growth clinical specialties. The company focuses on complex and high-precision components made from platinum group metals (PGM) and nitinol. Its manufacturing and technology centers are in San Diego and Oceanside, California; Mexicali, Mexico; and Tullamarine, Australia.

Agarwal was previously president and CEO of PE-backed Capsa Healthcare, where Lighteum said he “reset the company’s strategy and executed a new value-creation plan … delivered more than 20% revenue and EBITDA growth in 18 months, completed two tuck-in acquisitions, and expanded into software and services.”

Before Capsa, Agarwal was president and CEO of PE-backed Vyaire Medical and a senior leader at Acelity/KCI, Smith+Nephew and GE HealthCare.

“I am excited to join Lighteum Medical and advance our mission of providing precision-engineered solutions that enable life-enhancing, minimally invasive medical devices,” he said in a statement shared with MDO. “Lighteum brings together deep technical expertise and differentiated manufacturing capabilities to solve complex challenges for our customers. I look forward to spending time with them, understanding their needs and working with our team to help them succeed.”
