Medtronic has moved an executive from its Cardiac Ablation Solutions business to a new role as VP of global contract manufacturing.

Derek Minnock, based in Ireland, announced the appointment on LinkedIn earlier this week. Minnock has Medtronic (and before that Covidien, which Medtronic bought in 2015) for 34 years, moving up through manufacturing and supply chain roles.

For the past four years, Minnock was VP of operations for the Cardiac Ablation Solutions business that develops technology to treat atrial fibrillation (AF or AFib). Cardiac ablation has been a standout performer for Medtronic, with strong commercial demand for the Affera Sphere-9 pulsed-field ablation (PFA) catheter. The Affera system won an expanded indication for ventricular tachycardia (VT) and premature ventricular complexes (PVCs) in the EU last month.

As PFA helps drive double-digit revenue growth for Medtronic, the Minnesota-run medtech giant has been committed to reinvesting in high-growth platforms such as Affera.

“As I embark on my new role I’m especially grateful to the talented CAS team and our broader partners for their collaboration, commitment, and support. It has been a privilege to be part of such a strong team, and I’m proud of what we accomplished together,” Minnock said in his LinkedIn post: “I look forward to partnering with our talented contract manufacturing team and external partners as we continue to drive growth, resilience, and value for patients.”
