Oura discloses pay packages for top executives ahead of IPO

Oura has disclosed pay packages for its top executives for the first time as the smart ring company prepares to go public under the stock symbol OURA.

While Oura’s wearable devices are mostly intended and sold as general wellness products, some of its products and features are marketed as medical devices subject to regulation by the FDA and other regulators outside of the U.S., the company said in a securities filing in preparation for its initial public offering.

“As a result, these products, features, and our operations in connection with these products and features, are and will be subject to extensive government regulation and oversight both in the United States and abroad, and our failure to comply with applicable requirements could adversely harm our business,” the company warned potential investors.

Recruiting and retaining top talent — both at the executive and engineering level — is crucial in the medtech industry, but employee compensation is kept secret in most cases. Medical Design & Outsourcing tracks and analyzes these pay figures when disclosed by major device developers and manufacturers.

The Oura App’s Fertile Window feature for conception and pregnancy planning is regulated as a medical device in Europe, but not in the U.S., where the FDA “has indicated it will not require marketing authorization for such products intended for use to enable conception.”

Oura also has a partnership with diabetes tech developer Dexcom that offfers 24/7 glucose insights via the Oura app to users of Dexcom’s Stelo, an FDA-cleared over-the-counter (OTC) glucose biosensor.

“We are currently conducting a clinical trial to evaluate whether wearing an Oura Ring and following the exercise guidance provided by an AI-based Advisor in Oura App works to reduce arterial stiffness, and recruiting for a proposed study to evaluate the performance of our investigational Blood Pressure Profile algorithm in identifying signs of hypertension, which if fully developed, and cleared or approved by the FDA, and marketed would be regulated as a medical device,” Oura said in the filing.

Oura reported revenue of $1.2 billion for the nine months ended June 30, 2026, a 74% increase over the same period last year.

Oura’s most recent full-year revenue was $907.8 million for fiscal 2025 (which ended Sept. 30, 2025), up about 123% from fiscal 2024.

The company is also ramping up research and development, reporting $90.6 million in R&D spending for fiscal 2024, $142 million in fiscal 2025. The company more than doubled R&D spending for the first three quarters of fiscal 2026 to $206.8 million compared to same nine months the year before.

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission requires publicly held companies and companies preparing to go public to disclose total compensation for their CEO, CFO and three of the highest-paid executives.

Oura CEO Thomas Hale received $1 million in total compensation for fiscal 2025.

Hale’s pay package included $550,000 in salary pay. He received a 50% base salary increase on Jan. 1, 2025 from $400,000 to $600,000.

Hale also received a $495,000 cash performance bonus and $952 in life insurance premiums and flexible benefits spending account contributions.

Oura CFO Sean Brecker received $655,528 in total compensation for fiscal 2025.

Brecker’s pay package included $397,500 worth of salary. He received a 3% base salary increase on Jan. 1, 2025 from $390,000 to $400,000.

Brecker also received a $206,690 cash performance bonus, a $50,000 one-time cash bonus for “additional contributions” to Oura’s performance, and $480 in life insurance premiums and flexible benefits spending account contributions.

Oura Chief Operating Officer Michael Chapp received $673,920 in total compensation for fiscal 2025, including a salary of $447,741.

Chapp’s pay package also included a $223,870 cash performance bonus, a $1,829 one-time cash invention bonus for his contribution to an Oura patent, and $480 in life insurance premiums and flexible benefits spending account contributions.

Oura’s employee count

Oura reported 1,350 employees as of June 2026 across 11 countries, with over 350 of those in hardware and operations roles. The workforce is primarily located in California, with the company also maintaining offices in Finland.

“To attract and retain top talent, we offer competitive rewards packages that include significant equity-based compensation designed to closely align the interests of our employees with those of our stockholders,” the company said in the filing.

Oura did not disclose pay for its median employee or compare it to the pay of its chief executive as required by the SEC of publicly traded companies because it has not yet gone public.

More details are available in Oura’s Form S-1 Registration Statement filed with the SEC.
