Vertiflex raised $40 million in venture capital during its later stage of development in the first quarter of 2017, MoneyTree reports. Venture capital investors include Alta Partners, Endeavour Vision, H.I.G. BioHealth Partners, New Enterprise Associates and Thomas McNerney & Partners. This is the company’s sixth investment sequence.

The company creates minimally invasive interventions for spinal stenosis. Vertiflex’s Superion Indirect Decompression System is a minimally invasive spinal implant that is designed to treat moderate lumbar spinal stenosis. Once implanted, Superion is designed to reduce pressure on the affected nerves.
